The high school's planetarium is located at the back left of the main building (top center of photo, courtesy of Google Maps).
The planetarium was constructed in 1972 when the high school addition was built. Voters were able to choose between a planetarium and swimming pool, or a planetarium and additional gymnasium. The citizens of East Lyme decided against the swimming pool option and chose to add another gymnasium with the newly-constructed planetarium. Upgrades to the technology were never made during its 41 years of operation.
